Greek international striker Nikos Machlas has joined Sevilla FC on loan from AFC Ajax.
Out of favour
Machlas, the best paid player in the Ajax squad, has been out of action this season with the Dutch champions' coach Ronald Koeman preferring to combine Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Mido, and he has opted to move on after 38 goals in 74 league matches for the Amsterdam side.
Fourth club
Sevilla, 14th in the Spanish Primera División, are Machlas's fourth club, having previously played for OFI Crete FC and SBV Vitesse, with whom he was leading Dutch scorer in 1997/98 with 34 goals in 32 appearances.
