Article body
Scottish Premier League side Hibernian FC have signed Swedish goalkeeper Daniel Andersson on a one-year contract.
Free transfer
The 30-year-old custodian arrives on a free transfer following the expiry of his contract at AIK Solna in December. Andersson, who has played over 100 matches in the Allsvenskan, will join his new team-mates for training later this week. He said of the move: "There's a genuine interest in [Scottish] football and it feels good to be a Swede and playing here since there are so many big Swedish names [in Scotland]."
Swede success
Andersson is the second Swedish keeper to join a Scottish club this season following Celtic FC's signing of Magnus Hedman from Coventry City FC. However, it is another of his countrymen who has been uppermost in promoting Swedish football in the Premier League, Andersson saying: "Henrik Larsson has done an amazing job marketing Sweden and Swedish players in Scotland."
'Highly recommended'
Manager Bobby Williamson said: "Daniel comes highly recommended and I am pleased to have secured his services. Following the departure of Tony Caig to Newcastle [United FC], Daniel is an important addition to the squad and we look forward with working with him. I know that Daniel had other options and we are pleased that he has chosen Hibernian."
