RC Lens defender Adama Coulibaly suffered a serious leg injury over the weekend which has ended his Ligue 1 season.
Eight months out
The 22-year-old from Mali was a victim of a tackle from behind by Sébastien Michalowski during the match against Montpellier Hérault SC, which Lens won 4-0. "He has twisted his left ankle and broken several bones and torn ligaments," Lens medical staff said. On Sunday Coulibaly underwent surgery and he will spend six weeks in plaster. His full recovery could last up to eight months.
Excellent form
Coulibaly has been in excellent form this season for Lens, making 22 appearances in the league and five in the UEFA Champions League. He arrived at Lens in 1999 and became a first-team regular in 2001/02.
