Czech midfield player Jirí Jarošik scored twice on his debut in the Russian Premier League as PFC CSKA Moskva comfortably defeated newly promoted FC Rubin Kazan 4-0.
Impressive debut
Jarošik opened the scoring for his new club, before captain Sergei Semak doubled the lead shortly before half-time. Second-half goals from Jarošik and striker Dmiri Kirichenko completed an impressive start to the new season for last year’s runners-up.
Dinamo win
FC Dinamo Moskva also began with a victory against a promoted side, winning 1-0 at FC Spartak-Alania Vladikavkaz. Striker Dmitri Bulykin scored the winning goal, while goalkeeper Roman Berezovski also played a crucial role by saving a last-minute penalty from Georgian international Mihail Ashvetia.
Spartak stifled
In Sunday’s other game FC Shinnik Yaroslavl drew 1-1 with FC Chernomorets Krasnodarskiy Kray, while FC Spartak Moskva’s campaign got off to a slow start as they were also held, drawing 0-0 at FC Torpedo Metallurg Moskva on Saturday. Both goalkeepers excelled in a game which also saw Spartak defender Yuri Kovtun and Torpedo midfield player Alexander Rekhviashvili dismissed.
Champions win
Champions FC Lokomotiv Moskva started the defence of the title with a 2-1 win at FC Uralan Elista, although they fell behind to Zurab Tsiklauri’s goal. However, strikes from Narvik Sirkhaev and Dmitri Loskov's penalty turned the match in the champions’ favour.
Comfortable win
Andrey Tikhonov became only the second player to score 100 goals in the Russian league with two goals in FC Krylya Sovetov Samara’s 3-0 win at home to SC Rotor Volgograd, with Dmitri Kudrjashov adding the third goal.
Solid start
FC Zenit St.Peterburg ‘s new Czech coach Vlastimil Petrzela also enjoyed early success as his side secured a 2-1 win against FC Saturn Moskovskaya Oblast. Alexander Katulsky and Russian international Alexander Kerzhakov scored for the home side, while Moldovan striker Serghey Rogaciov pulled one back for Saturn.
Torpedo frustrated
Elsewhere, FC Torpedo Moskva were held to a 1-1 draw by FC Rostelselmash Rostov-Na-Donu. Alexander Maslov gave Rostelselmash an unexpected lead, but Igor Semshov salvaged a point for the home side.
