Lyon come close
Brazilian midfield Juninho scored the only goal of the game seven minutes from time in a game where Lyon came close to breaking the deadlock in the first half. Striker Sidney Govou almost put the home side ahead on 44 minutes but his shot came back of the post and out of the danger zone.
Juninho reward
The visitors were a more dominant force in the second half and created a number of chances before being finally rewarded in the 83rd minute when the impressive Juninho hit a shot into the far corner of the net.
Severe setback
The defeat was a severe setback for Nice, who had been unbeaten at home since the first game of the season. The Riviera side remain eighth in the league, nine points behind the leaders.
