Jobs for the old boys at Spartak

Members

Former FC Spartak Moskva players Sergei Yuran and Ilya Tsymbalar are to take charge of the club's reserves.

Academy appointment
The two appointments are promotions, as both men joined the Spartak coaching staff during the last year. Yuran, 34 next month, was named head of Spartak's youth academy when he returned to Russia from Austria, where a serious head injury had forced him to end his career with SK Sturm Graz.

Enforced retirement
Tsymbalar, also 33, recently linked up with Yuran at the academy having left his job as vice-president of Premier League side FC Anzhi Makhachkala, his final club. He too had to retire through injury in 2002.

International class
The new partnership will replace Sergei Rodionov and Gennadiy Morozov. Tsymbalar is a former Spartak Player of the Year, who also appeared for Russia at the 1994 FIFA World Cup and the 1996 UEFA European Championship. The much-travelled Yuran played 40 times for his country, scoring seven goals.

Slow starters
Spartak have made a slow start to the Premier League season, and are currently tenth in the table with 13 points from ten matches, already 12 points behind the leaders PFC CSKA Moskva.
