Mazzone steps down

Members

Brescia Calcio coach Carlo Mazzone has ended his three-year spell at the Serie A club.

Mid-table security
Mazzone, the oldest trainer in the Italian top flight, steps down after a three-year reign where he successfully navigated the modest Lombardy side to respectable mid-table positions. This season they finished ninth.

Nothing left to offer
"I have decided to leave on a high," he said. "This is goodbye. After three seasons what else do I have to offer to Brescia?" The 66-year-old has been linked with a possible return to former club Bologna FC, but he added: "I don't have any other teams lined up. I am leaving on good terms and hope to be well remembered. Now I am going on holiday."

Much travelled
A former AS Roma player, Mazzone began his coaching career in 1968, making his name with Ascoli Calcio before stints with Bologna, Cagliari Calcio, AC Fiorentina, SSC Napoli and Roma among others.
