FC Krylya Sovetov Samara have signed Zambian international striker Chaswe Nsofwa from Zanaco FC.

Long-term deal
The 22-year-old has signed a long-term deal for the Russian Premier-Liga club and started training with his new club a month ago. He has been on trial with Krylya Sovetov after winning the Zambian title with Zanaco last year and ending the campaign with 14 goals.

National pedigree
After signing the contract, Nsofwa joined up with his national team for a match against Tanzania on 7 June. Nsofwa has been a regular with the national team for three years, leading the scoring for Zambia in their FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign and also took part in the African Cup of Nations in 2002. World Soccer magazine named him among the 100 most promising players on the planet.

'A good addition'
"He is a quick and technical striker, who can also shoot well," said Krylya Sovetov coach Alexander Tarkhanov. "In any situation, he's not afraid to beat a defender. I am convinced he'll be a good addition to the squad." Nsofwa will become the second Zambian in Russia, joining Gift Kampamba who plays for FC Rostov.
