Article summary
Albert Celades inspired FC Girondins de Bordeaux on his debut while AS Monaco FC moved up to second.
Article body
AS Monaco FC moved to within a point of Ligue 1 leaders Lille OSC on Sunday with a 4-2 win against Paris Saint-Germain FC at Parc des Princes.
Red card
Ludovic Giuly and Manuel Adebayor scored in the first half, defender Sebastien Squillaci made it three in the 56th minute and Giuly wrapped up the game with a free-kick in added time. New signing Pedro Pauleta and Reinaldo scored the goals for PSG, who finished one man down after the dismissal of Modeste M'Bami nine minutes from time.
Nonda injury
Monaco's convincing victory was soured by the loss of Shabani Nonda with a twisted knee - the striker was carried off on a stretcher and could be out for several months. The win moves Monaco on to nine points, one behind LOSC, who surrendered their 100 per cent record in a 1-1 draw at home against FC Metz.
Thiaw opener
LOSC were caught off guard just after the kick-off when Metz striker Pape Thiaw broke the deadlock. Vladimir Manchev got the home side back on level terms two minutes after the break but the leaders were unable to find a winner.
Celades sensational
FC Girondins de Bordeaux's new signing Albert Celades made a perfect start to his career in France, helping his new side defeat AJ Auxerre 2-0. The midfield player joined Bordeaux on Tuesday on loan from Real Madrid CF for the rest of the season and played a significant role as Auxerre slipped to a third defeat in four matches.
Quick to pounce
The home side took the lead after eleven minutes as Celades crossed for Brazilian striker Deivid to open the scoring. Celades continued to cause problems for the visitors' defence and it was 2-0 on the half-hour as Albert Reira's free-kick found Mauricio Pochettino unmarked inside the Auxerre penalty area and the Argentinian international defender headed into the net.
Home winners
Olympique de Marseille were also 2-0 winners at home, defeating FC Sochaux-Montbéliard thanks to goals from Didier Drogba and Brahim Hemdani, the latter from the penalty spot.
Maurice to rescue
SC Bastia finally scored their first goal of the season, a late penalty by Florian Maurice - and it was enough to defeat Montpellier Hérault FC 1-0. The same scoreline was recorded at La Beaujoire where FC Nantes edged out Le Mans thanks to Shiva Nzibou's 78th-minute strike.
Laslandes treble
There were no goals in the game between Olympique Lyonnais and Toulouse FC or the encounter at Route de Lorient, where Stade Rennais FC drew with En Avant Guingamp. But there was plenty of drama when OGC Nice met AC Ajaccio - with Nice players scoring all four goals in a 2-2 draw. Lilian Laslandes stole the show, scoring twice for Nice and once for Ajaccio - Noe Pamarot also beat his own keeper.
Deflected winner
In the weekend's other game, a strike from Olivier Thomert deflected off Daniel Moreira to give RC Lens a 1-0 win against RC Strasbourg.
