Stuttgart maintain two-point lead

Members

Bundesliga leaders VfB Stuttgart were held 0-0, but none of their three main title rivals could record a win.

VfB Stuttgart remained two points clear at the head of the standings as all of the top four teams in the Bundesliga were held on Saturday.

Title contenders draw
Stuttgart drew 0-0 at VfL Bochum 1848, but SV Werder Bremen, Bayer 04 Leverkusen and FC Bayern München failed to take advantage as all failed to pick up maximum points.

Stuttgart stifled
Felix Magath's side booked their place in the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League in midweek with a 1-0 home win against Rangers FC. However, the league leaders were unable to break down a solid and well-organised Bochum defence, and had to be content with a point.

Bremen pegged back
Bremen looked to be on course to take all three points from their visit to Hamburger SV as midfield player Fabian Ernst opened the scoring in the 27th minute, but the home side drew level five minutes after half-time, with another midfield player on target, Christian Rahn striking to earn a point.

Leverkusen recovery
Leverkusen had to come from two goals down at home to TSV 1860 München to earn a 2-2 draw, as goals from Danny Schwarz and Markus Schroth at the end of the first half and start of the second put the visitors in a commanding position.

Lucio on target
However, Leverkusen's Brazilian forward Robson Ponte halved the deficit a minute past the hour, and the visitors then had striker Benjamin Lauth sent off two minutes later. The home side made the numerical advantage tell with 12 minutes left with Lucio striking, but were unable to find a winner.

Two for Pizarro
Bayern also had to settle for a 2-2 draw at home to bottom side 1. FC Köln, who took an unexpected lead ten minutes before half-time through Andriy Voronin. Peruvian striker Claudio Pizarro struck twice either side of the break to turn the match in Bayern's favour, but Alexander Voigt's equaliser on the hour gave the visitors a draw.

Wasteful Wolfsburg
VfL Wolfsburg threw away a two-goal lead to go down 3-2 at Eintracht Frankfurt, with first-half strikes from Miroslav Karhan and Diego Klimowicz giving Wolfsburg the lead. However, Christoph Preuss brought the home side back into the match before half-time, Ervin Skela equalised from the penalty eleven minutes into the second half and Markus Beierle completed the comeback with a 73rd-minute winner.

Home wins
Goals from Thomas Brdaric, Daniel Stendel and Thomas Christiansen gave Hannover 96 a 3-0 win against SC Freiburg, while strikes from Bradley Carnell and Arie van Lent either side of Lincoln's equaliser enabled VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach to defeat 1. FC Kaiserslautern 2-1.

Dortmund chance
Fifth-placed BV Borussia Dortmund have the chance to put their heavy UEFA Cup defeat on Thursday behind them and close the gap on the leading group on Sunday as they travel to FC Hansa Rostock, while FC Schalke 04 visit Hertha BSC Berlin.
