Ibrahimovic rescues Juve

Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored the winner as Juventus FC came from behind to defeat S.S. Lazio 2-1.

By Paolo Corradini

Juventus FC came from behind to regain their four-point Serie A lead with a 2-1 victory against S.S. Lazio on Sunday.

Pandev opener
Under pressure following AC Milan's victory on Saturday, Juve were keen to record their eleventh win of the campaign but fell behind after eleven minutes when Lazio's Goran Pandev opened the scoring with a wondeful solo effort. But the home side hit back and levelled five minutes before the break when Ruben Oliveria rose unmarked to glance a header past Lazio goalkeeper Matteo Sereni.

Ibrahimovic winner
Oliveria was booked for over-celebrating his goal but that did not stop Zlatan Ibrahimovic doing likewise after hooking in the 75th-minute winner from substitute Olivier Kapo's pass. The Swedish striker was also shown a yellow card, but Juve now have 35 points from 14 games and sit ten points clear of third-placed Udinese Calcio, who overcame AC Siena 1-0 at the Friuli stadium thanks to Antonio Di Natale's 16th-minute strike.

Zola double
Gianfranco Zola scored twice for fourth-placed Cagliari Calcio in a 4-2 win against AC Chievo Verona. Zola opened the scoring after 33 minutes with a wonderful free-kick and doubled the lead from the penalty spot six minutes later. Antonio Langella made it 3-0 before the break but Chievo hit back with second-half goals from Sergio Pellissier and Amauri either side of Cagliari captain Nelson Abeijon's second goal of the season.

Bernardini blunder
US Città di Palermo defeated winless Atalanta BC 1-0 to remain fifth. Franco Brienza's solitary goal one minute from the interval proved the difference, although Atalanta could have rescued a share of the spoils had Matteo Guardalben not saved Antonino Bernardini's penalty.

Totti nerve
Francesco Totti kept his nerve to drive in an 84th-minute penalty and grab a share of the spoils for AS Roma at home against Sampdoria UC. Totti, whose strike brought him level with Roma legend Roberto Pruzzi on 106 Serie A goals, converted from the spot three minutes after Biago Pagano had glanced a header past Roma goalkeeper Ivan Pelizzoli to put the visitors ahead. Sampdoria's Francesco Flachi almost grabbed all three points in added time when his 20-metre strike rattled the Roma crossbar with the last kick of the game.

Fiorentina joy
Elsewhere, a second-half Enzo Maresca goal gave ACF Fiorentina a crucial 1-0 victory against Bologna FC while Marius Stankevicius, Gilberto Martinez Vidal and Andrea Caracciolo were on the scoresheet as Brescia Calcio defeated Reggina Calcio 3-1 away from home.

Lecce turnaround
US Lecce came from behind to earn a 3-2 win against AS Livorno Calcio. Trailing 2-1 at the interval, Samuele Dalla Bona and Guillermo Giacomazzi scored second-half goals to turn the game in Lecce's favour.
