Brugge broken by Jestrovic

Substitute Nenad Jestrovic scored RSC Anderlecht's winner against previously undefeated Club Brugge KV.

By Berend Scholten

Substitute Nenad Jestrovic came off the bench to score the winning goal for RSC Anderlecht against Club Brugge KV on Saturday and close the gap at the top to four points.

Broos changes
Victory for Brugge would have carried them ten points clear at the top and they seemed on course when Nastja Ceh pounced on a poor back-pass to give the visitors a 20th-minute lead. But Anderlecht coach Hugo Broos made two key changes, bringing on Jestrovic and Yves Vanderhaeghe, who followed up Vincent Kompany's shot to equalise midway through the second half.

Comeback crowned
Five minutes were left to play when Aruna Dindane carved open the Brugge defence and Jestrovic, making his comeback from a broken arm, scored the winner and inflict a first league defeat of the season on the visitors.

Portier heroics
R. Charleroi SC and KAA Gent sit five points behind Anderlecht, the former after a 2-0 home win against KRC Genk, the latter following their 1-1 draw with visiting R. Standard de Liège. But RAA Louviéroise dropped a spot to seventh after their surprising loss away against bottom club KV Oostende, for whom Anthony Portier scored a last-gasp winner.

Second-half storm
A 5-1 defeat for RAEC Mons at R. Excelsior Mouscron saw them drop to bottom spot. Nicolas Goussé had given them an interval lead but second-half strikes from Grégory Lorenzi, Alexandre Lecomte, Patrice Noukeu and a Marcin Zewlakow double ended the visitors' dreams of a second win of the season.

Omonga off
FC Brussels kept ahead of the basement pair with a 2-1 win at Cercle Brugge KSV. Richard Culek and Fabrice Omonga put the visitors 2-0 up at the break and although Dieter Dekelver pulled a goal back after Fabrice Omonga had been sent off for Brussels, the home side could not force a draw.

Sanogo sensation
Elsewhere, a hat-trick from Moussa Sanogo helped KSK Beveren to a 4-1 home victory against KVC Westerlo, K. Lierse SK defeated KSC Lokeren OV through early goals from Archie Thompson and Stef Wils, while the match between K. Sint Truidense VV and KFC Germinal Beerschot Antwerpen ended in 1-1 thanks to Samuel Ipoua's 88th-minute equaliser for the home side.
