Robertson relinquishes Hearts role

Members

Scottish Premier League outfit Heart of Midlothian FC have parted company with their manager John Robertson.

Speculation mounts
There had been mounting speculation about Robertson's future over the weekend and although the Edinburgh outfit were prepared to offer the former Hearts player another position within the management team, Robertson decided to walk away from the club this evening after a long meeting with chairman Phil Anderton.

Short reign
The 40-year-old Robertson, who took over the reins from Craig Levein in January, led the Tynecastle side to the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup and Scottish League Cup and an away win at FC Basel 1893 in the UEFA Cup group stage, but failed to secure a European place for next season. It is understood that assistant Donald Park will take charge for Sunday's league fixture against Celtic FC.
