Egypt striker Mido scored one and made the other as Tottenham Hotspur FC brushed aside Manchester City FC with a 2-0 victory to consolidate fourth place in the Premiership.
Surprise package
The north London club have been the surprise package this season in England and were hardly troubled on their travels tonight. Mido broke the deadlock in the 31st minute after Aaron Lennon capitalised on a mistake by Sylvain Distin and supplied a perfect pass in front of goal. Robbie Keane scored the second in the 83rd minute after pouncing on Mido's knockdown.
Ahead of Arsenal
Tottenham's victory, their sixth in eight games, takes them to within one point of third-placed Liverpool FC and, more importantly, six points clear of old rivals Arsenal FC, who do have a game in hand. One negative for manager Martin Jol was that Mido limped off in the closing stages after a challenge from City midfielder Sun Jihai.
