Joseph Yobo has signed a new four-year contract at Everton FC. The 25-year-old centre-back has been at Goodison Park since 2003 and said there was never a question of him wanting to leave. "I have waited a long time for this to be sorted out. There was no doubt of me being happy, I wanted to stay," he said.
Chris Riggott has agreed a new four-year contract with Middlesbrough FC that will keep him at the Riverside stadium until the summer of 2010. The 25-year-old centre-back, who moved to the club in January 2003, was a key figure in the club's run to the UEFA Cup final, scoring a crucial goal in the four-goal fightback against FC Steaua Bucuresti in the semi-final second leg. "Chris has progressed particularly well and was a big part of our success," said new Middlesbrough manager Gareth Stoughate. "Now we are looking for him to force his way into the international set-up."
Rangers FC defender Marvin Andrews has been told he can leave the club for no fee. Manager Paul Le Guen has no place in his future plans for the 30-year-old, who has spent two seasons at Ibrox. Andrews is a Trinidad and Tobago international but missed the recent FIFA World Cup through injury.
Japanese teenager Takayuki Morimoto has joined Italy's Catania Calcio 1946 on loan from Tokyo Verdy in Japan. Morimoto, who made history in 2004 when he became the youngest player to score a J-League goal as a 16-year-old, will join the newly promoted Serie A side for one season.
