Everton FC midfielder Tim Cahill is likely to miss the rest of the Premiership season after breaking the fifth metatarsal in his left foot against Sheffield United FC on Saturday afternoon.
'Massive blow'
The Australian midfielder was carried off in the first half at Bramall Lane and an immediate scan confirmed the extent of the injury. "We have suffered a massive blow in losing Tim today," said Everton manager David Moyes. "I cannot really put into words how big a blow this is to us. We need Tim Cahill in games like this and we also need him to score goals. We have a decent goalscoring record this season and part of if is to do with Tim and Andy Johnson, but now we need to find those goals elsewhere in the last few games of the season if we want to find ourselves in European competition next season."
