Howard seals Everton transfer

United States goalkeeper Tim Howard has agreed a permanent transfer to Everton FC from Manchester United FC following an impressive loan spell on Merseyside.

Successful loan
Howard has enjoyed a successful loan spell at Everton this season and the Merseyside club today confirmed a permanent five-year deal with the 27-year-old, which will come into effect when the transfer window reopens on 1 July. Capped 17 times by the USA, Howard arrived at Old Trafford from New York/New Jersey Metrostars - now the New York Red Bulls - in 2003 and made 44 Premiership starts over three campaigns prior to joining Everton.

'Good keeper'
With Edwin van der Sar and Tomasz Kuszczak already blocking his path to the United first team, and Ben Foster due to return to Old Trafford from Watford FC in the summer, Howard has opted to remain with Everton where he has kept six clean sheets in his last nine appearances. "He has come in this season and proved he is a good keeper and we are pleased to have secured him," said Everton manager David Moyes.
