There was nothing to separate Arsenal FC and Everton FC as the top-four hopefuls played out a goalless draw in north London, a result which does little to enhance either side's prospects of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League.
The Gunners, in third, are two points clear of fourth-placed Chelsea FC and Tottenham Hotspur FC, who both have games in hand on Arsène Wenger's men. Everton, meanwhile, remain in sixth position – four points off their hosts for the night – having played the same number of matches as Arsenal, 33.
Following a first half in which Steven Pienaar and Olivier Giroud spurned the only chances for either team, Santi Cazorla tested Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard within four minutes of the restart.
Visiting midfielder Ross Barkley then grazed a post as the encounter continued at a relentless pace, while late on a last-ditch intervention from Seamus Coleman prevented Giroud from turning in a square ball from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and earning Arsenal a fifth consecutive league triumph.
On Wednesday, Premier League leaders Manchester United FC visit West Ham United FC, Manchester City FC host FA Cup final opponents Wigan Athletic FC and Fulham FC entertain Chelsea.
Joining those clubs in the elite next season will be Cardiff City FC, who gained the point they needed at home to Charlton Athletic FC to return to the top flight for the first time since 1962.
