Gilliéron re-elected in Switzerland

Peter Gilliéron has been re-elected as Swiss FA president for a third two-year term, and says 2014 FIFA World Cup qualification and youth development are his priorities.

Peter Gilliéron has been unanimously re-elected as president of the Swiss Football Association (SFV-ASF) for a further two-year term.

The 60-year-old lawyer from Berne, who is also a member of the UEFA Executive Committee, has been at the helm since 2009, after previously serving as the association's general secretary from 1994.

"Football offers everyone a highlight every single day," said Gilliéron in his address to the Swiss association's assembly. He said the next major target was to qualify for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, explaining: "Qualifying for Brazil would make up for not qualifying for UEFA EURO 2012." Gilliéron also emphasised that youth development would remain at the forefront of the organisation's vision.
