AS Roma have created history by becoming the first team to win their opening ten games of a Serie A campaign, Rudi Garcia's side defeating AC Chievo Verona 1-0 thanks to Marco Borriello's second-half goal.
The Giallorossi matched the nine in a row set by Juventus in 2005/06 when they left it late to beat Udinese Calcio at the weekend, and the capital outfit were narrow victors again, this time on home turf. Borriello was in the right place to score his first goal for the Lupi since May 2011, heading in Alessandro Florenzi's intelligent centre after 67 minutes.
Roma, who have conceded just one goal all season and have now kept seven successive clean sheets, were once again without the injured Francesco Totti and Gervinho, as well as the suspended Maicon. They are five points clear of SSC Napoli and Juventus and 11 ahead of fourth-placed FC Internazionale Milano as they chase their first Scudetto since 2000/01.
For Chievo, meanwhile, this was a sixth straight loss. The Verona club are bottom of the table, five points from safety, and on Monday visit fellow strugglers Bologna FC.
