Mönchengladbach maintain European push

VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach returned to sixth in the Bundesliga table as they came from behind to defeat Hamburger SV 3-1 and maintain their push for European football.

With HSV just two points above bottom side TSV Eintracht Braunschweig, hopes of a stress-reducing win were raised when Jacques Zoua headed in Hakan Çalhanoğlu's whipped free-kick on 28 minutes. However, the lead lasted just nine minutes before Filip Daems tapped in after his initial penalty had been saved by the legs of René Adler.

The hosts got their noses ahead with 15 minutes remaining as Raffael rounded the goalkeeper to score, before Álvaro Domínguez secured the win three minutes later, tapping in a corner at the back post.

SV Werder Bremen moved above Hannover 96 into 12th as they recorded a 2-1 win away against Die Roten. Szabolcs Huszti put Hannover ahead two minutes before the interval as his free-kick from 25 metres found the corner, but Eljero Elia set up Franco Di Santo to equalise close to the hour mark. Sebastian Prödl then headed in Luca Caldirola's corner in the final minute to end a three-game run without a win for Bremen.
