CA Osasuna and Real Valladolid CF were the casualties on the final day of action in the Spanish Liga as both suffered relegation to the second tier, despite Osasuna beating Real Betis Balompié 2-1.

The Pamplona outfit's fate depended in part on Valladolid's game against Granada CF, as they needed Granada to lose to have any chance of survival. As it was, Stefan Mitrovic's own goal sealed a 1-0 loss for Valladolid, who finished in 19th – with Granada climbing to 15th to leave Osasuna down as well in 18th.

Also involved in the relegation scrap, UD Almería saved themselves with a goalless draw against Athletic Club, while Getafe CF won 2-1 at Rayo Vallecano de Madrid.

Further up the standings, Villarreal CF pipped Real Sociedad de Fútbol to sixth spot courtesy of a 2-1 success away against their rivals, Giovani dos Santos and Ikechukwu Uche finding the net for the visitors. As for UEFA Europa League winners Sevilla FC, they concluded their excellent campaign by seeing off Elche CF 3-1.
