CS Fola Esch have set the seal on their second title in three seasons in Luxembourg after triumphing 3-0 at UN Käerjéng 97 to come out on top with a game to spare.
The side from Esch-sur-Alzette needed just a draw to cross the finishing line but clinched the crown in style thanks to an opening goal from Emmanuel Françoise on 15 minutes and a pair of Zarko Lukic strikes late in the game. All three goals were created by the impressive Stefano Bensi.
"We deserved this title," said coach Jeff Strasser. "I'm proud of the team. The work that the whole squad put in has been rewarded." Fola lost their title last season following a 3-0 loss to eventual champions F91 Dudelange on the final day, but this time around they beat their rivals 2-0 away and 1-0 at home. They are now assured of a spot in UEFA Champions League qualifying next term.
