UEFA EURO 2024 volunteer programme already attracts 138,000 applicants

With just a few weeks to go before applications close, a record 138,000 people have expressed an interest in volunteering at UEFA EURO 2024 in Germany.
A total of 16,000 volunteers will represent Germany in the ten host cities and stadiums during the event. They will welcome guests from all over the world and play a central role in making the tournament a EURO for all, bringing to life the motto ‘United by football. Vereint im Herzen Europas.’

"Interest in the programme has been tremendous, both within Germany and internationally. We are impressed by the enthusiasm and commitment expressed by people in Germany. The number of applications for the volunteer programme has far exceeded our expectations. Excitement is mounting among everyone involved. It is great that so many people want to volunteer to represent Germany at EURO 2024 and give a face to the host cities."
Applications can be made on www.euro2024volunteers.com until 15 December. Applications to volunteer in Gelsenkirchen and Leipzig have the greatest chances of success at this stage, depending on the applicants’ availability and area of interest.
Successful candidates will be invited to an informal interview, 14,000 of which have already been held, with more scheduled. All applicants can expect a definitive answer by February 2024.
So-called Volunteer Weeks have been taking place in the host cities since September. They are an opportunity to hold uniform fittings for successful applicants, and organise interviews, particularly for disabled applicants, in an effort to make the programme as accessible and inclusive as possible. Various side events help create a sense of team spirit ahead of the tournament.
