AB decision affecting the attendance of supporters at UEFA matches

AB meeting of 8 March 2024

The UEFA Appeals Body has taken the following decision potentially affecting the attendance of supporters at UEFA matches:

Match: Toulouse FC vs. SL Benfica (0:0) 22.02.2024, UEFA Europa League 2023/2024

Incidents:

  • Throwing of objects, Art. 16(2)(b) DR
  • Lighting of fireworks, Art. 16(2)(c) DR
  • Acts of damage, Art. 16(2)(f) DR

Decision:

The Appeals Body has decided:

1. To fine SL Benfica €20,000 and to ban SL Benfica from selling tickets to its away supporters for its next (1) UEFA competition match, for lighting of fireworks and throwing of objects. Said ban from selling tickets to away supporters is suspended for a probationary period of two (2) years, starting from the date of the present decision.

2. To fine SL Benfica €8,000 for acts of damage.

3. To order SL Benfica to contact Toulouse FC within 30 days for the settlement of the damages caused by its supporters.

Disciplinary measures under a probationary period are not immediately effective but may be enforced if “a further offence of a similar nature is committed during the probationary period” (cf. Article 26(3) of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations).
