Article body
Girls and women at all levels of football will have the opportunity to share their experiences – authentically, in their own words and in their own language – through UEFA’s Off Mute campaign.
Players will be invited to answer five open-ended questions online, reflecting on their personal journeys in the sport.
Their responses will shed light on the barriers they face, what inspires them, and how the game can become more inclusive and accessible for all.
"UEFA is committed to increasing the participation of women and girls in football, as set out in our Unstoppable strategy. Off Mute is about listening – at scale, across cultures, and in real-time – to learn what truly matters to women and girls. By doing so, we will drive meaningful change for the future of the game."
Preparing for Women's EURO 2025
Off Mute’s first phase will focus on gathering insights into girls' experiences of playing football, with responses shaping actionable recommendations set to be unveiled during UEFA Women’s EURO 2025.
These findings will be shared with clubs, coaches and grassroots organisations across Europe, helping them to prepare and welcome the new wave of players expected after the tournament.
The Off Mute platform will leverage a new cutting-edge interface from Amazon Web Services to transcribe, translate and categorise every contribution, creating a comprehensive database of women’s and girls’ football experiences.
The campaign will continue to evolve, introducing new topics and expanding the conversation to ensure that women and girls remain at the heart of the game's progress.
Supported by Europe's top players
Off Mute has support from Europe’s top professional footballers, including six-time UEFA Women’s Champions League winner Ada Hegerberg and UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 winner Beth Mead.
Girls and women at all levels of football are invited to take part in the Off Mute initiative by answering five questions online.
"Every girl and woman in football has a unique story to tell. Off Mute is all about giving us a platform to celebrate our journeys and to bring us together, making the game we cherish better for the next generation. Your voice matters – let’s speak up and shape the future of football as one."
Supporting the Unstoppable strategy
Off Mute is a key initiative within UEFA’s broader Unstoppable strategy, a six-year plan designed to build a sustainable ecosystem for women’s football by 2030.
By amplifying the voices of women and girls, Off Mute supports the strategy’s ambition to make football the most-played team sport for women and girls in every European country, while shaping policies that will help strengthen professional leagues and drive long-term investment in the game.
