Claudius Schäfer is the CEO of the Swiss Football League, a position that he has occupied since 2012 after joining the organisation six years earlier as head of legal services and club licensing. He has a background in law – having studied in Bern, Montpellier and Zurich – and was appointed to the UEFA Legal Committee in 2018.
Schäfer has been a board member of the European Leagues and the Swiss FA since 2016 and 2019 respectively. From 2023 he was vice-president of the European Leagues before being elected as the organisation’s president in March 2025 for a four-year term, replacing Pedro Proença.
