UEFA statement on CNMC investigation

UEFA takes note of the opening of an investigation by the Spanish competition authority, Comisión Nacional de los Mercados y la Competencia (“CNMC”), into the unilateral Club Commitment Declarations voluntarily made by clubs following their withdrawal from the so-called ‘Super League’ project.

These declarations were approved by UEFA in May 2021 in a spirit of reconciliation. UEFA remains confident that the Club Commitment Declarations are fully compatible with Spanish and EU competition law.

UEFA is engaging in a constructive spirit with the CNMC in order to bring this matter to a close.
