The 63-year-old has been a member of the FAW Council since 2014 and has a long association with the sport, both as a player and then as a volunteer with several grassroots clubs.
"Those early days shaped everything," he explained. "They gave me a love for the game, a sense of community and values that have stayed with me ever since. To be in a position now to give back to the game that gave me so much feels very special."
A strong advocate of women’s football, Jones heads to Switzerland with Wales as they prepare to compete at UEFA Women’s EURO for the very first time. "It shows what’s possible," he said, “not just for this incredible group of players, but for every girl in Wales who dreams of playing. The impact goes far beyond the pitch. It boosts visibility, attracts investment and helps grow the women’s game at every level."
