A European Cup winner with Feyenoord, Kindvall represented Sweden 43 times, scoring 16 goals between 1965 and 1974.
Born in Norrköping in 1943, Kindvall first made headlines playing for hometown club IFK Norrköping. He helped IFK to the league title in Sweden in 1963 and was the Allsvenskan top scorer in 1966 before signing for Feyenoord.
It was Kindvall who scored the winning goal against Celtic in extra time in the 1970 European Cup final in Milan, and with Feyenoord he also won the Eredivisie in 1969 and 1971, as well as the Dutch Cup in 1969. He finished as top scorer in the Netherlands top flight in three separate seasons – 1967/68, 1968/69 and 1970/71.
Kindvall was also instrumental in Sweden's qualification for the 1970 FIFA World Cup, scoring twice against France at Råsunda in 1969.
“Our Ove has left us,” wrote IFK Norrköping on its website, calling Kindvall “elegant, skilful and humble”.
A statue of Kindvall was unveiled at the club in October last year, and IFK added: “Today the flag flies at half mast by the statue, where we arrange a memorial in honour of the great son of the city.”
