Åström, elected SvFF president in March, previously chaired the Swedish Elite Football Association – the body representing clubs in the top two tiers of Swedish men’s football – since 2022.

Discussions focused on key priorities for the development of football in Sweden. This month marked a historic moment for Swedish football as Mjällby, a club from a small Baltic Sea fishing village, claimed the national championship for the first time, securing a place in next season’s UEFA Champions League qualifying.

Sweden reached the UEFA Women’s Nations League semi-finals this season and will face France in the bronze medal tie later this year.
