Former Russia head coach Boris Ignatyev has passed away aged 85.

A player in the Soviet Union's lower divisions from 1960 to 1972, Ignatyev started his coaching career at Torpedo Vladimir in 1973.
In 1976, he was appointed coach of the Soviet Union's youth national team and remained in the role for more than ten years. Under his leadership, the team won the UEFA European Under-18 Championship in 1988.
From 1992 to 1996, Ignatyev was a member of the Russian national team's coaching staff. In 1996, he became head coach and held the position for two years.
Ignatyev later held a number of coaching and executive roles at clubs in Russia and internationally, and also served on the Russian Football Union's national teams committee.
