The 50th Ordinary UEFA Congress was held today in Brussels, Belgium, and the following decisions were taken:

Ratification of the FIFPRO Europe representative

David Terrier (FRA), President of FIFPRO Europe, was ratified as the FIFPRO Europe representative on the UEFA Executive Committee for a three-year term of office, running until the 2029 UEFA Congress.

UEFA Honorary Membership

Fernando Gomes (POR) was bestowed UEFA honorary membership for his outstanding contributions to European football, including his presidency of the Portuguese FA and Portuguese League, membership and vice-presidency of the UEFA Executive Committee, and membership of the FIFA Council.

Annual Report and Finances

The UEFA Annual Report 2024/25; the financial report and financial statements for 2024/25 and annexes; and the budget for the 2026/27 financial year were all approved.

Statutory amendments

Several amendments were made to the UEFA Statutes.

Next UEFA Congress

The 51st Ordinary UEFA Congress will take place in Astana, Kazakhstan, on 4 March 2027.

UEFA Sustainability Strategy upgrade 

The UEFA Executive Committee was presented with an upgrade to the UEFA Football Sustainability Strategy 2030, aiming to build on the significant progress already delivered and reinforcing our focus on collective action, measurement and accountability across the European football ecosystem. The upgraded strategy retains its original vision while sharpening its focus on delivering social impact, respecting the environment and championing responsible management in football events and infrastructure.

UEFA referees’ awards 

The UEFA Executive Committee approved the creation of a yearly award for the best female referee and the best male referee.

The awards will recognise outstanding refereeing performances across UEFA competitions and highlight the role that referees play as ambassadors of their respective national association.

The initiative aims to promote respect for referees throughout the football community and to inspire future generations by highlighting positive role models who embody dedication, integrity and high performance.
