Kováčik re-elected in Slovakia

Kováčik, who is a successful businessman, will continue to lead the SFZ for the next four years following Friday's elections.

"I feel good and responsible, and realise how much work is ahead of me. Everything I did before, I did with the best intentions,“ said Kováčik after his re-election.

Slovakia successfully hosted the Under-21 EURO across eight cities last year, one of the biggest sporting events to take place in the country, having also staged the Under-19 EURO in 2022.

At senior level, Slovakia have qualified for the previous three men's European championships, reaching the knockout stages at EURO 2024. Its women's team will compete in League B at the forthcoming UEFA Women's European Qualifiers, as they pursue a first appearance at a major finals.
