First elected in 2024, Örlygsson, a former Iceland international, was elected unopposed and will now serve a further two-year term.
During his first term he put a big emphasis on the national stadium, which received a new playing surface with hybrid grass and undersoil heating last year - a major boost for Icelandic football given several of its clubs' recent forays into the league phase of the Conference League. Further improvements are foreseen in the coming months.
Örlygsson has also overseen a major upgrade of the floodlighting system at the national stadium during that same period, elevating it to international standards.
“The redevelopment of the national stadium will continue and Icelandic national teams will continue to compete against the biggest sides in the world while our club sides will get a chance to strengthen their position on the international stage and bring us proud moments,” said Orlygsson.
