Malagò, former president of CONI, the Italian Olympic Committee, was elected on Monday following the resignation of Gabriele Gravina earlier this year.
"This sense of responsibility I'm feeling is truly moving," he said. "On my own, I can do nothing; together, we can do everything. The FIGC must be a source of inspiration – everyone needs to play a leading role."
Born in Rome, Malagò excelled at futsal, winning three Italian league titles as a player with Roma RCB. A successful businessman away from the game, he has also covered several managing roles in various sports and sporting events until he was elected president of CONI in 2013, going on to lead the organising committee of the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo.
