Lazetic signing for Como

Nikola Lazetic has joined newly-promoted Serie A side Como Calcio from Fenerbahçe SK.

Yugoslavian international Nikola Lazetic has joined newly-promoted Italian Serie A side Como Calcio from Turkish runners-up Fenerbahçe SK.

Four-year deal
The 25-year-old midfield player, capped 18 times by Yugoslavia, has signed a four-year deal after moving on a free transfer. Lazetic, previously with FK Crvena Zvezda, FK Vojvodina and FK Obilic, admitted that he realised he was not joining one of the giants of Italian football, but revealed that Serie B champions Como had ambitious plans.

Como aims
He said: "While I am happy to be playing in Serie A, Yugoslavian footballers always want to go to a big club. But playing in Turkey and in the [UEFA] Champions League I realised that it was far better to climb the ladder step by step and it is not to my disadvantage that I am coming from a lesser-known environment. Como have said to me that their aim is to become established in the top division and then prepare to qualify for Europe."
