Ton-up Totti rallies Roma

Francesco Totti scored his 100th Serie A goal as AS Roma drew 3-3 with FC Internazionale Milano.

By Paolo Corradini

Francesco Totti scored his 100th Serie A goal in an AS Roma shirt as the capital club came from two goals down to draw 3-3 with FC Internazionale Milano at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday. Totti scored a wonderful free-kick just before the hour to kick-start Roma's comeback, which was completed by Daniele De Rossi's 74th-minute header.

Verón fortune
Roma had taken an early lead when Vincenzo Montella converted Alessandro Mancini's fine cross but Inter's Argentinean midfield player Esteban Cambiasso levelled with a header a minute before the interval. Six minutes after the break the visitors were ahead, Juan Sebastián Verón's long-range effort deflecting off Philipe Mexes and into the net. Then Alvaro Recoba scored to give Roberto Mancini's undefeated side a seemingly unassailable lead.

Di Napoli double
FC Messina Peloro avenged their Coppa Italia defeat in midweek by turning the tables on AC Siena with a 4-1 victory to maintain their remarkable start to the season. Two goals from Arturo Di Napoli, a stike from Alessandro Parisi and a penalty by Nicola Amoruso completed the comprehensive victory. The Sicilian club, enjoying their first spell in Italy's top flight since the 1964/65 season, sit just two points behind the leaders after leapfrogging US Lecce into second.

Zalayeta heroics
Juventus FC earned their fourth victory in five league matches as Marcelo Zalayeta, on for the injured David Trezeguet, headed what proved to be the winner 16 minutes into the second half away against Udinese Calcio. Moments earlier Jonathan Zebina had struck the post with a superb long-range shot for Juve, who have conceded just one goal so far this season.

Shevchenko repeat
AC Milan's late saviour last week scored twice again as the Rossoneri defeated Reggina Calcio at the San Siro. Andriy Shevchenko turned things around against S.S. Lazio seven days ago and produced the goods again, helping Carlo Ancelotti's side to a 3-1 win with goals on eleven and 88 minutes. Ivan Franceschini had quickly equalised for the visitors before Kaká restored Milan's advantage.

Atalanta denied
Roberto Muzzi was on target as Lazio drew 1-1 against Atalanta BC, who were within minutes of recording their first league win of the season. Muzzi's 85th-minute goal cancelled out an early Carmine Gautieri effort for the Serie A newcomers. Meanwhile, a solo effort from Franco Brienza five minutes before the interval gave US Città di Palermo their second victory of the season against Bologna FC.

Fontana dismissed
Fausto Rossini and Aimo Diana found the net as UC Sampdoria won 2-0 against AC Livorno Calcio. Livorno's third loss in five matches left the team with two points at the bottom of the standings. Meanwhile, Parma FC were held to goalless draw against ten-man ACF Fiorentina, who had Gaetano Fontana sent off for a second bookable offence.
