Decent campaign
The 25-year-old enjoyed a decent campaign in Europe last year, scoring eleven goals in 22 appearances for VfL Wolfsburg. The German club were keen to sign Baiano but refused to meet CR Flamengo's reported €3m asking price for the player, who subsequently joined São Caetano.
EU rules
Baiano becomes Málaga's second new recruit following the arrival at La Rosaleda of Jorge López 'Tote' from Real Betis Balompié. However, the southern side have now exceeded the maximum number of permitted non-EU players, meaning Paulo Wanchope, Ivan Leko or Marcelo Romero may be deemed surplus to requirements.
