Atlético lose new recruits

Two Club Atlético de Madrid recruits suffered ankle injuries during a weekend friendly tournament, with Miguel de las Cuevas out for four months.

Club Atlético de Madrid's preparations for the Spanish season have taken a blow after new signing Miguel de las Cuevas was ruled out for four months with a broken ankle.

Ligament damage
The 20-year-old, who arrived on a five-year contract from second division Hércules CF last month, suffered the injury yesterday as Atlético beat Club Nacional of Uruguay 2-1 as part of RC Deportivo La Coruña's four-team tournament. Miguel was taken to a local hospital where he underwent surgery to repair torn ligaments.

Seitaridis out
Greece defender Giourkas Seitaridis is also on the sidelines with an ankle injury sustained during Atlético's 1-0 defeat by AC Milan on Saturday, but will need just a fortnight to overcome the sprain. The 25-year-old joined the Rojiblancos on a four-year deal from FC Dinamo Moskva in June.
