RC Lens centre-back Vitorino Hilton has joined UEFA Champions League contenders Olympique de Marseille on a four-year contract with the Ligue 1 side reportedly paying a fee of €5m for his services.

European chance
"I had contact with several sides outside France," the 30-year-old Brazilian revealed. "But none of them were involved in the [UEFA] Champions League. It might be my last opportunity to play in the competition so I don't want to miss this chance." Hilton, who can also operate at right-back, made 122 league appearances for Lens after joining them from Swiss side Servette FC in 2004 and was part of the team that were runners-up in the French League Cup against Paris Saint-Germain FC in March. His new outfit begin their UEFA Champions League campaign in the third qualifying round on 12 or 13 August.
