Portuguese champions FC Porto have signed defensive midfielder Freddy Guarín from AS Saint-Etienne for an undisclosed fee.

'Great team'
The 22-year-old has penned a four-year contract with the club. Guarín, capped eleven times by Colombia, started his career in his homeland with Envigado FC, before joining St-Etienne initially on loan during the 2006/07 season, a move which was made permanent the following campaign. "FC Porto are the biggest club in Portugal as they have a great team and are used to winning the Portuguese Liga every year," Guarín told Porto's website. "I promise I will give my all to this club." Portuguese Under-21 international midfielder Paulo Machado has joined St-Etienne on a year-long loan.
