Borussia Dortmund completed a 4-1 victory against VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach to restore their seven-point lead atop the Bundesliga in some style.
Though Marco Reus's opener (33) gave Jürgen Klopp's men food for thought, Neven Subotić (45), Shinji Kagawa (52), Kevin Grosskreutz (76) and Marco Barrios (88) sealed their side's 12th win in 13 matches. There were also four goals in Munich as FC Bayern München ran out 4-1 winners against Eintracht Frankfurt to move fifth thanks to goals by Anatoliy Timoshchuk (29, 88), Thomas Müller (59) and Mario Gomez (61).
Bayern are two points behind Hannover 96, who completed a 3-0 success against SC Freiburg, and three adrift of Bayer 04 Leverkusen, who were denied a win against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim by Gylfi Thor Sigurdsson's added-time penalty. Leverkusen lie four points adrift of second-placed Mainz, who won 3-0 against 1. FC Nürnberg on Friday.
FC Schalke 04's league woes continued with an emphatic 5-0 humbling by 1. FC Kaiserslautern. Srdjan Lakić (8, 56), Martin Amedick (39), Ivo Iličević (76) and Jan Moravek left Felix Magath's men hovering two points above third-bottom VfB Stuttgart, who lost 4-2 against Hamburger SV, after goalscorer Ciprian Marica received a 16th-minute dismissal.
