Juventus bring up century, Parma back in Europe

Juventus became the first side to pass the 100-point barrier in Serie A history courtesy of a 3-0 success against Cagliari Calcio on the final day of the season.

Already guaranteed to receive the Scudetto trophy after the game, Antonio Conte's men made sure they ended their campaign on a high, going ahead when Andrea Pirlo's free-kick struck the crossbar before rebounding in off goalkeeper Marco Silvestri eight minutes in.

Fernando Llorente then slotted in from close range after a quarter of an hour, with Claudio Marchisio rounding off the victory five minutes before the interval. That took the Bianconeri onto a record 102 points for the season, and also confirmed them as the first team to complete a 20-club Serie A campaign with a 100% home record.

Runners-up AS Roma signed off on a low note, in contrast, suffering a 1-0 loss to Genoa CFC after Giannis Fetfatzidis notched the winner seven minutes from time. The afternoon fixtures also included a 2-1 success for relegated Calcio Catania against Atalanta BC, before the attention switched in the evening to the tussle for Italy's final UEFA Europa League berth.

That was claimed by Parma FC in a dramatic slew of games, with substitute Amauri striking twice in the second half against bottom side AS Livorno Calcio to seal his club's return to Europe for the first time since 2006/07. The 2-0 victory lifted Parma ahead of Torino FC, who could only draw 2-2 at ACF Fiorentina – with Alessio Cerci having a penalty saved deep in added time that would have sent the Granata into Europe.

AC Milan also missed out despite downing US Sassuolo Calcio 2-1 in a game in which Philippe Mexès, Mattia De Sciglio and Paolo Cannavaro all saw red. Elsewhere, third-placed SSC Napoli dispatched Hellas Verona FC 5-1, FC Internazionale Milano lost 2-1 at AC Chievo Verona and SS Lazio beat Bologna FC 1-0.
