Kalou rejoins Roux at Lens

Bonaventure Kalou has joined UEFA Intertoto Cup hopefuls RC Lens for an undisclosed fee having moved to Paris Saint-Germain FC for €10m two years ago.

Ivory Coast forward Bonaventure Kalou has joined UEFA Intertoto Cup hopefuls RC Lens having failed to shine at Paris Saint-Germain FC following a €10m move two years ago.

Final goal
The 29-year-old has agreed a three-year contract at Lens with his transfer fee rumoured to be €1-2m. Kalou has thus been reunited with Guy Roux, who was his coach at AJ Auxerre between 2003 and 2005. The older brother of Chelsea FC striker Salomon, he was the last player to score under Roux, now 68, at Auxerre, hitting the Burgundy side's winner against CS Sedan-Ardennes in the 2005 French Cup final.

Feyenoord promise
Having started his career at ASEC Abidjan, Kalou moved to Feyenoord in 1997, helping the Rotterdam side win the 2002 UEFA Cup. He moved on to Auxerre in 2003, where Roux considered him to be "one of the finest players of his generation". The 51-times capped international joins Ivory Coast team-mates Kanga Akalé and Aruna Dindane at Lens.

Lens signings
Former Auxerre player Akalé was one of the club's previous summer signings along with Lucien Aubey from Toulouse FC, François Laurenti from AC Ajaccio, AS Saint-Etienne captain Julien Sablé and goalkeepers Vedran Runje - from Beşiktaş JK - and ES Troyes AC's Ronan Le Crom. Lens play the home leg of their UEFA Intertoto Cup tie against FC Chornomorets Odesa on Saturday having drawn 0-0 in Ukraine at the weekend.
