UEFA Europa League round of 32 contenders Hertha BSC Berlin have lined up a third player ahead of the opening of the transfer window with defender Roman Hubník joining the club on a six-month loan.

Third signing
The tall 25-year-old defender has agreed to join Hertha until the end of the season on loan from FC Moskva, having been on loan at AC Sparta Praha since January 2009. Hertha will have the option to sign Hubník at the end of his loan period. However, he will not be eligible to play in their round of 32 tie against SL Benfica, having already played four games in the UEFA Europa League group stage with Sparta. Hertha are ten points adrift of safety at the foot of the Bundesliga, with Friedhelm Funkel having come in as coach in October following the dismissal of Lucien Favre. Hubník's arrival follows the announcement of moves for Fanis Gekas from Bayer 04 Leverkusen and FC Schalke 04's Levan Kobiashvili.
