New president for Football Association of Slovenia

The Football Association of Slovenia has installed 43-year-old lawyer Aleksander Čeferin as its new president after the governing body's assembly in Brdo pri Kranju.

Aleksander Čeferin is the new president of the Football Association of Slovenia (NZS) after his election at the association's assembly in Brdo pri Kranju.

"I sincerely thank you for your support. This is not only an honour but also a strong commitment to work in the future," he said. "Despite the fact we are a small country, we have many areas where we have achieved great success, including in football." Mr Čeferin urged the Slovenian football family to stay together and work towards the common goal of the game's well-being.

The 43-year-old president, a respected lawyer from Grosuplje, near Ljubljana, added that among his priorities would be to raise the quality of the domestic leagues and to ensure better club organisation.
