FC Nordsjælland have been confirmed as Danish champions for the first time in their history after a comprehensive 3-0 victory against AC Horsens.

Nordsjælland started the day two points clear of FC København, knowing a point might not be enough to secure the title due to their inferior goal difference. An ominous tone was set when the nine-time Danish champions took an 18th-minute lead against Silkeborg IF, but Kasper Hjulmand's side responded in style courtesy of Mikkel Beckmann's goal just before the break.

And if anyone doubted Nordsjælland's title credentials, those suspicions were soon dispelled when Andreas Laudrup made it two, before Andreas Bjelland trebled their advantage. Although Dame N'Doye stretched FCK's lead his efforts proved in vain as the holders were dethroned.

"This is a fantastic feeling. What a crowd and what a night," said Nordsjælland winger Tobias Mikkelsen. "I think we were great, and taking the title after a 3-0 win at home is just fantastic. We played well in the first half and taking the lead obviously gave us a boost. This calls for a big celebration."
