UEFA statement following Athens incidents

UEFA has requested a detailed report of the incidents in order to assess the situation and take any appropriate additional measures.

On 8 August 2023, in view of the appalling incidents that took place in Athens, Greece which led to the loss of a life, UEFA communicated its decisions to postpone the match AEK Athens FC vs GNK Dinamo which was due to take place on the same day.

Following this decision, UEFA is currently liaising with the Greek national authorities and has requested to receive a detailed report of the incidents in order to review and assess the situation from a safety and security point of view and take any appropriate additional measures.

Next steps and any potential measures to be taken will be communicated in due course.
