Cosmi laments 'missed chances'

Udinese Calcio coach Sersi Cosmi was left to lament profligate shooting after his side were held by Werder Bremen in Group C.

Udinese Calcio remained in second place in UEFA Champions League Group C after Antonio Di Natale scored four minutes from time to salvage a 1-1 draw at home to Werder Bremen at the Stadio Friuli in Udine. Bremen, who led courtesy of Felipe's 64th-minute headed own goal, stayed bottom of Group C with one point from three outings as Udinese kept ahead of Panathinaikos FC on goal difference, three points behind group leaders FC Barcelona.

Serse Cosmi, Udinese coach
We deserved to win because I think we performed better, even if we didn't play our best football. We missed too many chances and in such important matches you can't afford to make these mistakes. I don't know why we weren't as bright as usual - maybe the players were a bit tired. I also think we were a bit unlucky because their goal was an own goal and at that moment they didn't deserve to take the lead. We deserve credit for being able to come back right at the end.

Thomas Schaaf, Bremen coach
I asked my players for a good performance and they gave me that. Before the match I was worried because Udinese can be really dangerous with high balls, but my defenders were always focussed. In the first two games of the UEFA Champions League we were a bit unlucky, but we didn't play badly and we confirmed tonight that we deserve to be in the competition. Beforehand I hoped we would win this game, but a draw could be enough because we are still in the race to qualify, especially if we can keep playing in this way. We know Udinese are a good team but tonight we showed we can play at the same level.
